Heart Shaped Brownies: Non-Alcoholic Valentine’s Recipe

These Heart Shaped Brownies are a delightful and fudgy treat perfect for sharing love on Valentine’s Day. With simple ingredients and a charming presentation, they’re sure to impress anyone you cherish.

Ingredients

  • Good Quality Chocolate (bittersweet or semi-sweet, at least 60-70% cacao)
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Granulated White Sugar
  • Light Brown Sugar
  • Eggs (whole eggs and an extra egg yolk)
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt
  • Decorations (red, pink, and white sprinkles, edible glitter, small candies, white chocolate, powdered sugar, non-alcoholic buttercream frosting or ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan, then line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a medium, heatproof bowl, combine your chopped bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate and the unsalted butter. Melt this over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth and fully melted. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Once the chocolate and butter mixture has cooled slightly, pour it into the sugar. Whisk until fully combined. Then, add the eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. If you're adding chocolate chips or other mix-ins, fold them in now.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into your prepared 9×13-inch pan. Spread it out with your spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool completely, for at least 2-3 hours.
  8. Once your brownies are thoroughly cooled and firm, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the entire slab out of the pan and place it on a cutting board. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes.
  9. Arrange your heart-shaped brownies on a serving platter. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with melted white chocolate, or frost them with a non-alcoholic buttercream. Finish with Valentine's themed sprinkles or edible glitter.

Keywords: Do not overbake the brownies to maintain their fudgy texture. Quality ingredients, especially chocolate and butter, make a significant difference in flavor. Allowing the brownies to cool completely before cutting is crucial for clean shapes.
