Description

Transform leftover mashed potatoes into delightful crispy cheese puffs that are golden brown on the outside and gooey on the inside. Perfect for parties or as a fun snack, these puffs are sure to be a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups leftover mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for baking or air frying (olive oil or avocado oil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, gently whisk the egg until well-distributed.
  3. Add the cold mashed potatoes, grated cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese to the bowl with the egg.
  4. Sprinkle in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Using a spatula or your hands, gently mix all the ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a small ball, roughly 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Repeat until all the mixture is used, placing the balls on the prepared baking sheet with space between them.
  7. For the oven method, bake for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning. For the air fryer method, air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.
  8. Carefully remove the puffs from the oven or air fryer and let them cool for a minute before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
