- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion
- 1 clove of minced garlic
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons of water
- 2 pounds of potatoes
- 4 cloves of minced garlic
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme
- In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion, 1 clove of minced garlic, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix everything gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides (about 5-7 minutes). Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add 1 cup of beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Stir this mixture into the simmering broth to thicken it.
- Add the meatballs back to the skillet, spooning some gravy over them. Let them simmer for about 5 minutes to heat through and absorb the flavors.
- Peel and chop 2 pounds of potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 4 cloves of minced garlic, 1/2 cup of milk, and 4 tablespoons of butter.
- Mash until you reach your desired consistency. Stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley, 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place a generous scoop of garlic herb mashed potatoes on each plate, top with the Salisbury steak meatballs, and drizzle the delicious gravy over everything. Enjoy your meal!
